Our Science-Based Approach

1. PLASMIN REDUCTION

Tranexamic Acid is a plasmin inhibitor. That single action turns down three things at once: inflammation, visible redness, and the vascular reactivity that makes irritated skin and irritated scalps stay irritated. The scalp formulation uses a concentration physician-calibrated for inflammation reduction — lower than the pigment-correction dose used in the face serum, because the scalp's problem is irritation, not pigment. A randomized, double-blind clinical trial of topical Tranexamic Acid on face and scalp tissue supports its efficacy and safety in the reactive, post-inflammatory setting (PMID 39045920).

2. INFLAMMATION

Bakuchiol is a plant-derived retinol alternative that calms the inflammatory cascade driving scalp irritation, flaking, and redness. A 12-week randomized, double-blind trial found it matched 0.5% retinol on efficacy with significantly less irritation (PMID 29947134), and a separate clinical evaluation on sensitive, reactive skin documented its barrier-repair effects and strong tolerability (PMID 33346506) — which is why it's safe enough to use daily, even on already-reactive scalps where retinol would be intolerable.

3. OXIDATIVE STRESS

Quercetin is a potent polyphenol antioxidant that neutralizes the environmental free radicals (UV, pollution, sweat, airborne irritants) which keep the itch cycle going. Beyond its antioxidant role, preclinical single-cell transcriptomic research found that topical quercetin stimulates resting hair follicles and replenishes perifollicular microvasculature (PMID 37285263) — a mechanistic link between oxidative stress reduction and the health of the scalp and hair follicle environment.
